Time for a Reset
A few days before my birthday, I had a bout with food poisoning and it was a pretty miserable time. But it served as a reminder: I was way overdue for a serious cleanse and it was time for me to do a 10 Day Water Fast. I was introduced to the idea of fasting many years ago from a book called “Bragg Healthy Lifestyle: Vital Living to 120!” By Paul C. Bragg and since then, I have fasted many times. Oftentimes just 24 hours, but sometimes 3 or 10 days. I’ve also done long juice cleanses — the longest was 30 days. Lately I’ve been over-eating and getting a little fat, so it was definitely time for a reset. Really, the biggest challenge you’ll face when fasting is being around people who will think you are absolutely insane. If you’re interested in fasting and you’ve never done it before i would highly recommend starting with several 24 hour fasts and gradually work up to 72 hours over time. My perfect program would be a 24 hour fast once a week, 3 day fast every 3 months and 10 day fast once a year. Fasting gives your digestion a break and cleans out your internal organs – also triggers a process called autophagy, where the body clears out damaged cells and potentially heals itself from the inside out. It improves vitality and even helps prevent illness. Definitely check with your doctor first, especially if you’re on medication or living with diabetes.
How to Prepare for a 10-Day Water Fast
You’ve got to plan this out ahead of time and stock up on everything you’ll need. Here’s what I recommend having on hand:
1 – Sea salt
2 – Lemons
3 – Magnesium supplement
4 – Plenty of clean water
5 – Hydration capsules or electrolyte mix
6 – Detox herbs (I’ll share my recipe below)
And yeah — I cheat with a small cup of black coffee in the morning. No shame.
Most importantly, get your mind right!
Herbal Cleansing Recipe
These are the herbs i use during a cleanse and why
- Burdock Root – Known for its blood-purifying properties. It supports liver function and helps flush toxins through the skin and kidneys.
- Nettle Leaf – A nutrient-dense powerhouse that supports kidney health, reduces inflammation, and even helps with allergies and joint pain.
- Dandelion Root – Boosts digestion and liver health by stimulating bile flow. It also acts as a gentle diuretic to help clear waste.
- Red Clover Blossoms – Great for cleansing the lymphatic system, plus it supports hormone balance and has solid antioxidant benefits.
How to Prepare it:
- Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Add 1 tablespoon of burdock root and 1 tablespoon of dandelion root.
- Let it simmer for 25 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and add 2 teaspoons of nettle leaf and 2 teaspoons of red clover blossoms.
- Cover it and let it steep for 20 minutes.
- Strain it into a jar and sip it throughout the day.
This mix will gently support your organs and help your body clear out waste while you fast.
What to Expect
The first 3 or 4 days are pretty tough.. You’ll be hungry, probably grumpy, and your energy will go way down. This is when detox symptoms start to show up: low energy, brain fog, maybe even some dizziness. At the beginning, you might wake up feeling a little lightheaded and that’s where the sea salt comes in. Mix 1 teaspoon into a tall glass of water and this usually will make you feel much better within minutes. I also like to make a tea with lemon and ginger in the morning and take magnesium before bed. During this last cleanse, I still went to the gym every day but I dialed it way down. Movement is important. Even a walk and some deep breathing can make a huge difference. By day 4 or 5, you should start feeling better. You might even have a bowel movement, even though you haven’t eaten anything, which could be mucoid plaque. (Google that) yuck!
⚠️ Important: Breaking your fast carefully is just as important as the fast itself. Reintroduce food slowly over a couple of days, starting with light, easy-to-digest foods like fruit or broth. If you rush it, you could experience serious digestive distress — nausea, cramping, or worse. Take it slow, listen to your body.
Final Thoughts
People have been fasting and cleansing since the beginning of time and I truly believe it’s one of the healthiest things you can do. Even animals instinctively stop eating when they’re sick and they let their body do what it was designed to do. In today’s world, we’re being hit from every angle: pesticides, chemical additives, hormones, heavy metals, chem trails… It’s insane! If we want to feel good then we have to stay vigilant and take responsibility for our health.
Wishing you strength, clarity, and energy on your journey. Rock On! 🤘

Wow Jason!!! This is awesome! But with your 10 day water fast, you’re not drinking only water you also having tea and a few other herbal stuff to detox and cleanse right? For some reason, I thought a water fastest was literally just water and nothing else. have you ever done just a water fast without any herbs or teas?
You could do water only, but why be so hard on yourself? The goal is autophagy. My first 10 day fast was strictly water but i think you can get more out of it with herbs. 🙏
